Morning Light

Morning Light
Medium: Acrylic
Base: Board
Year: 2010
Acrylic painting of female figure with the morning light streaming in the window in front of her. The aim of the artwork is the light and the contrasting colours of gold yellow and purple and how they work around the figure.
This painting is taken from a photo taken on the spur of the moment. Probably never intended as an artwork, but it has turned out to be one of those happy accidents.
With some Photoshop work to change the colours and contrast, I was surprised how good this looked. Some creative cropping followed and I had a subject I was very keen to paint.
Humans can be a challenge for me, especially using a medium I am still getting used to, such as acrylics, but challenges help you grow. They can also be fun and good for the old ego if they work out OK.
This painting has received some very positive comments and I am also happy with it. I still have a lot to learn but I think I have made a good start!
