About Janice Mills - Australian Fine Artist

About

Janice originally studied at Chisholm TAFE in the late 1970s and has been a Graphic Designer/Artist for over thirty years. She originally trained as a fine artist and in 2009 returned to making that the focus of her life and career.

During 2011 Janice completed a Diploma of Management to help her manage her developing arts practice. She also completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment during which she wrote an Introduction to Drawing course. This adaptive course is for beginners who want to cover the basics of drawing in a relaxed but informative atmosphere. To add to her qualifications, Janice went on to complete a Diploma of Visual Art at Chisholm (2012-2013) and an Advanced Diploma in Creative Product Development (2014) with High Distinctions.

Janice also volunteers and holds art workshops at the McClelland Gallery for school groups and children's holiday art workshops. She holds a Working with Children Check and a Police Check certificate.

As a long term resident in the Mornington Peninsula area Janice is interested in representing Victoria and it's flora and fauna both in Australia and overseas through her fine art. Much of her recent work is dedicated to the unique beauty and history of our garden state, and more specifically the rural area near her studio.

Janice's passion is painting, to which she has been developing her own unique style and presentation. She currently has collectors in the UK and Australia and her work is now in the permanent collection of Chisholm Victoria. Her studio and training/display room is situated at the top end of the Mornington Peninsula on the family property. Viewings of her work can be arranged by appointment.

Janice is completing her double degree in fine art and visual culture in February 2017 and will be participating in an Honours year in 2017. She is also studying painting with internationally recognised fine artist David Chen and has been attending workshops with him for the past four years to gain advanced training in colour theory, tonal theory, composition and techniques for oil painting.
