Oil Painting of the sea shore in Frankston (Victoria, Australia) area during summer on nine individual canvasses mounted on framed board painted black with a hint of the colour in the shell over painted for texture. The frame is black and is addition to the size of the work. |
This painting was also created after the recent successful reception of and requests for similar works to Sea Shell. |
After preliminary sketches I came up with this layout which I was happy with. The colours are very like the sea shore in Frankston where I have taken some of my recent "resource" photos. |
The seashell is more of a major centre of interest in this work, as if you are lying on the beach on a warm summer day contentedly observing the shell on the sand in front of you. I am not trying to make a photographic record, merely to bring to mind the feeling of the shore on a summer day. You may even think of the old rhyme, from which the title is taken as you look at it. Just as I did when I was working on the painting. |
