Second place - monthly qualifier of McClelland Guild Artists, "Artist of the Year" competition (August 2008). |
Whilst sitting in the McClelland Guild of Artists meeting for July, inspiration struck. Due to the terrific presentation by the two artists for the month I had ideas popping into my head so fast I couldn't keep up. Out of this frenzy came this painting. |
It is presented in a totally different way than usual for me, and although the painting style is not that different, the use of multiple canvases and framing technique is. The whole thing just popped into my head and wouldn't leave me alone until I did it. A good thing that it was fun to do. |

Before finishing I very much need to thank a couple of people in helping me with this work. I was presenting it at the August meeting for the McClelland Guild and on the morning of the meeting it was still not in a frame. The terrific staff at Above The Mantle framing shop in Frankston made sure my work was properly framed in time and I owe them a huge thank you. My wonderful husband also contributed his cordless drill and helped me to mount the canvases onto the board I had prepared. All this came together for another second place which I am really thrilled about because for me this work was a step outside my comfort zone and it worked. |
