Oil painting derived from photographs taken on a walk around the Pearcedale (Victoria, Australia) area for material for future artworks. This painting is just past the entrance to a rural property. With a little imagination and a few changes here and there, such as adding the sheep and changing the colours a little a very nice painting can be created. |

This painting is is another example of great subject matter in your own neighbourhood. I am now in the habit of taking walks with camera in hand to find new material for paintings. Being in a farming/rural area, a lot of the nearby properties are artworks in the making at certain times of the day and certain times of the year. |

Mr Mitchell (senior) was busy working on the property as I walked past and quickly got a few shots of their terrific gums trees. He soon caught up with me and invited me to take as many pics as I like and wander around the property if I wished. I had not met Mr Mitchell before so that was a very kind offer. |
|
When I opened the pics from this shoot on the computer I knew I had a couple of really good paintings in the making and I am very happy with the result. I will drop off a print to Mr Mitchell as I have with other neighbours, so that he can see the result of his kindness. |

I have posted this work on the Paintings I Love artists networking site and it has received some very positive comments from other artists. With this work I also did something a bit different, posting images at various stages of completion and asking for feedback. It was a bit scary at first but it is a good way to learn from your peers. I got some invaluable insight and am very grateful. |

This is another example of taking the time to take a leisurely afternoon stroll with a camera to get a roll of material for future sketches and this work reflects how you can get great results without going very far. You may have to do some creative cropping and editing in Photoshop but a lot of seemingly ordinary pics can come out quite nicely with a bit of work. |
