James Day Fine ArtistAbout James DayI am very pleased to write about James Day. He is a fine artist based in the United States who is very passionate about supporting and networking with up and coming artists from all over the world. A lot of the promoting on the web that James does is free to the artists and as one of them I am very grateful for his support. That is one of the reasons for this article. Following is some of the info found on James Day's website. James Day was born in Topeka, Kansas in 1970. Being the son of an artist he inevitably became an artist himself. He started from a young age working with clay, firing his work in kilns, and eventually casting and creating his own limited editions in addition to originals. If you're interested in purchasing originals from James, limited editions or signed prints, please contact the artist through his website. James is a sculptor specializing in 3D cubism, who also enjoys painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design, web design, working with wood, metal, wire, pastels, chalk, gouache, as well as various other mixed media. He leans heavily towards sculpture and working with clay, being the son of a talented sculptor: Cathie Cordova Oldham. There is some amazing work to be seen. James took a lengthy break from sculpting to start what ended up being an ongoing 9 year business venture in software development. Once he started the business, his personal time went out the window. Averaging 15 - 18 hour days back to back week after week for years from that point on pretty much forced any ambitions he had for his art to the side. When he finally got back into his personal sculpting again this last winter, he wanted to pick up where he left off. Over the years he has had an endless number of ideas of how he could continue with his Life Cycle series. The images on his web site are just a few of those ideas. The series is a work in progress, so followers of his work can expect a lot more to come as he finds the balance between managing his business and his art. I hope James is able to get that fine balance of work and passion with out having to drop his attention from his amazing fine art. Before finishing I want to add my personal thanks to James for all the hard work he puts in promoting artists from all over the world he has never met. I regularly see my art promoted in Twitter by James and for that he has my thanks and admiration.
