Backorye - St Andrews Beach Art Studio/Gallery

During the Artists' Night at the end of the Waverley Art Show, I was introduced to Bryan Baldwin. We had a very friendly chat and he told me a little about his work and his gallery. I love helping other artists in their ventures and seeing success come their way. I figure that what goes around comes around and that some day in the future I will also receive some help in a similar manner. If not, at least I have helped out a fellow artist on their journey to realising their dreams. Follow is some information supplied by Bryan about his art and his gallery. I hope that many of you will take the opportunity to visit and purchase from this very talented gentleman!

Backorye and Bryan - The Story

In 2007 Bryan "took the plunge" and started his artistic pursuits full time. The same year he won The Flinders Art Show with his portrayal of the "The Bird Netters" on Flinders Beach. He opened Backorye - St Andrews Beach Art Studio/Gallery in April 2008.

Bryan is well known for his beautiful Mornington Peninsula seascapes, showing his love of the many beautiful beach scenes and their ever changing moods. He enjoys working in many mediums, oil, acrylic, pencil, pastel and sculpting. Past work has included Murals, Theatrical Set Design, Illustrations and Corporate Imaging. At his Studio/Gallery you'll find a diverse range of Bryan's work on display.

Bryan's vision for the Mornington Peninsula is as a hub of fine art in Victoria. He is a foundation member of The Peninsula Studio Trail and will be holding themed exhibitions during the year.

At the age of 14 Bryan was fortunate enough to travel the Australian Outback with his family. The vivid colours of the sunsets inspired Bryan to portray that feeling in a painting. He has since endeavoured to capture, emotion and mood within his artwork.

Bryan studied at Prahran College and graduated with a Diploma of Art and Design in Industrial Design. He has worked variously as an Industrial Designer and Design Draftsman in a number of different companies.

The Studio

There are many varied disciplines to this studio... in that it is not simply a fine art studio or a design drafting office.

Bryan's studio is a reflection of Bryan himself. Here is space for the fine arts, painting and sculpture, computers and drawing boards for commercial art, designing and drafting, an extensive workshop where prototypes of practical designs are moulded from wood, metal and fibreglass and theatrical backdrops of immense proportions are created.

Bryan's imaginative nature is expressed in all his work. He thinks outside the square and his creations are both artistic and functional.
