Artgallop GalleryRosalind Meadmore - Artgallop GalleryAt a recent meeting of the McClelland Guild of Artists it was my pleasure to meet Rosalind Meadmore. We hit it off at once, both being art and horse lovers. Ros has embarked on a venture to support local and upcoming artists in the Peninsula area. Something which not only affects me personally, but which I wholeheartedly support. She is holding exhibits and competitions to encourage artists to display their work and show the public the wealth of talent in our community. She has kindly offered me wall space for my works, an offer which I am keen to take up. I will also be entering her competitions as they occur in the future and encourage new artists to take up this great opportunity. These are some comments from Ros about her background and goals. “I come from an artistic family, my grand mother was an artist and my brother, Clement, an internationally renowned sculptor.” “I inherited some art works and have gradually added to my collection over the years.” “My first husband, Hans Werner makes a living from painting since retiring. I managed an equestrian centre with my second partner, Charlie Moffat for 30 years, until his death in 2008.” “When the horse business slowed down, I studied and completed Visual Arts and Ceramics Diplomas at Dandenong TAFE. Charlie had built a Quaker Barn on the property. I live in half of it and the other half I have made into an Art Gallery for which I devised the name and logo myself.” Ros has opened her gallery with the idea of displaying:
