Western Port Festival Art Show 2010Issued on Sunday, 28 February 2010 Western Port Festival Art Show is the first of several art shows I have planned to enter for 2010. It is local and a nice way to ease into the year. The outcome of this show was beyond all expectations. A Great OutcomeConsidering that I was late contacting them, the ladies running this years' show were very kind in accepting my entries. When I delivered I Love My Mum! to Hastings, it was great to hear very kind and encouraging comments from the organisers and other exhibitors. That was the last thing I really thought about, apart from hoping that I might get a sale, as the standard of works was very high. I look at these events as a way of showcasing my works and receiving some feedback as to what people are looking at, what attracts their attention and whether what I am doing is "commercial". Anything else is a bonus. Last year I received some fantastic feedback, my landscapes drew very positive comments and I was invited to come back this year. Over all a good result. I could not believe the result for this year. With very teary eyes and shaky hands I received First Prize for Best in Show for my acrylic painting I Love My Mum!. It seems it received a huge amount of attention and positive comment from viewers, organisers and the judge. Thank you everyone who attended and made such kind comments on my work. This is such a huge thing for me I can not really put it into words. I am encouraged, overjoyed and proud of my achievement to say the least. Thank you to the judge (Oakhill Galleries) and organisers of this event for this honour. My next venture is the VicArchies at Artgallop in March 2010, so off we go again, eager to paint some more!
