Artist of the Year Awards 2008

Issued on Friday, 12 December 2008

2008 was an exciting year with an achievement award (first place) from McClelland Guild of Artists (Victoria, Australia).

Co-Winner 2008 - McClelland Guild of Artists

It came as a lovely surprise and honour to be a winner this year for the Artist of the Year along with another keen artist and member of the McClelland Guild of Artists, Jillian Fleming.

It has been a happy experience to at last be back enjoying what I started out at and with the benefit of a group of friendly, supportive and like-minded people. In the coming year I am looking forward to regularly contributing to the monthly guild meetings and hopefully producing some art to be proud of. It will be great to share styles and opinions with other members and I am so grateful to the guild for the honour they have given me this year and to everyone who has encouraged me in the past year I can only give my humble thanks.

During this past year I have obtained a good camera, so I am planning more Australian seascapes and landscapes. My animal portraits are also now taking off as a business so that is looking exciting.

A new sideline to that has been the interest in my photographic skills. Commissions are now being ordered for large format (A3 and super A3) photographic portraits of beloved equine and canine companions. It is a part of my training that I have only used as a tool towards the final objective of a painting, but am pleased that people are interested in.

My website will of course grow from this, as new works are placed for public viewing. It is looking like a photographic section may need to be added in the coming months. It is all looking exciting for the coming year, so as they say ... watch this space.
