Corvid Stud

The Corvid's Story

Issued on Monday, 18 August 2008

During the course of painting an equine companion for a commission, I was able to experience typical country friendliness and hospitality. This commentary is about these people and their stud.

Enjoyment During Commission Painting

Part of the enjoyment of painting a portrait of a beloved equine companion is the experience of getting to know the owners as well as their horses.

The ladies at the Corvid Stud in Pearcedale (Victoria, Australia) have made me more than welcome into their home so I would like, in gratitude to them, to write a little more about what makes their stud so unique.

Quoting June from the stud:

“Jesse James horses are renown for their trainability, even temperament and cow sense. Corvid Stud which was started over three decades ago with Montana Jessie James has, with a program of cross outs and crossing back to the Jessie James line, produced a genetic stack up resulting in horses of impeccable temperament.”
“The infusion of blood horse and appaloosa has produced a softer moving horse with more versatility than Quarter Horses traditionally have.”
“Corvid Stud is renown for the intelligence, even temperament and good looks of its horses, along with versatility.”

I am currently saving up for my next horse and am happy to say it will come from Corvid's young stock. Owning a little nephew to my lovely old guy who is now retired, will be another joy to my life and no doubt will be a great companion for him in the paddock.

It is my pleasure to pass on my experience with these hospitable ladies and their amazing horses.
