Rastas

Rastas
Medium: Oil
Year: 2007
This is the finished painting of Rastas. It came together amazingly fast. I didn't want to do a large work, so I used a previously stored canvas board. It was completed in just under 2 hours. I think I managed to capture the sweet nature that he had as a puppy.
He was a very shy pup, quite often hiding behind me from strangers. He was also very loving and loyal and the best dog I ever had. It was with mixed emotions that I did this work. Happiness from the memories of him and sadness from missing him now that he has passed away.
What I have discovered from this work though, is that I enjoy working on portraits of dogs as much as I do horses. I am looking forward to new commissions coming in for both ... and maybe some lovely pet cats or birds as well. I would also be interested in trying my hand at cattle. I have 2 pet cows and their personalities are just as unique as many other pets. Something for the future maybe.
Dimensions (metric): 25 cm (width) × 35 cm (height).
